In this course, you will develop practical skills and foundational knowledge in business computing, information systems, and data-driven decision-making. The course is designed to provide hands-on experience with widely used tools - particularly Microsoft Excel, SQL and genAI - while grounding your understanding in essential information technology concepts.

Over the course modules, you will move from mastering Excel formulas, charts, and conditional logic, to working with SQL queries and database joins, while also exploring the role of generative AI in business. Each module combines conceptual learning with practical assignments, designed to help you apply new skills to real-world problems.

• Apply core concepts of business information systems to explain how hardware, software, networks, databases, and cloud technologies support organizational decision-making and operations
• Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel by creating and analyzing data using formulas, functions, charts, conditional formatting, and tables for business-related problem solving
• Design and execute basic SQL queries to retrieve, filter, and join data from relational databases in support of business reporting and data analysis tasks
• Integrate data, tools, and information systems concepts to solve structured business problems and effectively communicate insights through digital tools

This course satisfies 3 credit hours toward the QTRS: Quantitative Reasoning General Studies requirement at Arizona State University.
